Product details
The NOYAFA NF-588E is an Android thermal camera built around a 256×192 sensor and a 10 mm manual-focus lens. Its narrow 17.5° × 13.2° field of view concentrates the image on distant targets, which makes it a better fit for scanning from further away than most phone-sized thermal cameras.
At a glance
- 256×192 sensor, under 50 mK, 25 Hz
- 10 mm lens with manual focus
- 17.5° × 13.2° field of view for more reach
- Connects to Android phones by USB-C

What the specs mean in practice
Narrow field of view. Most phone thermal cameras use wide lenses of 50° or more. A 10 mm lens magnifies the scene instead. With about 1.2 mrad per pixel, one pixel covers roughly 12 mm at 10 m, versus about 40 mm or more on a wide-angle camera, so you can read distant targets that wide cameras blur into a few pixels.
Trade-off. You see less area at once. At close range, or in tight spaces, you cover much less of the scene than a wide-angle module would.
Manual focus. You adjust the focus for the distance you are viewing, which helps get sharp detail at range.
What you can use it for
- Distant equipment: check rooftop units, poles, transformers and rooflines from the ground.
- Outdoor scanning: see heat signatures at night or in poor light.
- Long hallways and large rooms: inspect surfaces from further back.
Who should look elsewhere
- You work close up or in tight spaces. A wide-angle camera such as the UNI-T UTi120 Mobile covers more area at short range.
- You use an iPhone.
How it compares
- HTI HT-203U: 256×192 with a wide view, tuned for 0.3 to 3 m.
- GTGUARD ClearView C210: 256×192 with 8× zoom, designed for observation.
Tips for better results
- Focus on the target before you judge detail.
- Hold the phone steady, because a narrow view magnifies hand shake.
- Glass blocks thermal imaging, so you see the glass surface and not what is behind it.
- Heat signatures are easiest to spot after sun-warmed surfaces have cooled, such as at dusk and before dawn.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the field of view so narrow?
A longer 10 mm lens magnifies the scene. You see less area, but distant targets appear larger and more detailed.
Do I need to focus it?
Yes. It has manual focus, so you adjust it for the distance you are viewing.
Is it a standalone camera?
No. It connects to your Android phone and uses the phone's screen and battery.
Does it work with an iPhone?
No. This model is for Android.
Is it good for close-up electronics?
A wider lens suits that better. This one is optimized for distance.
Best-fit applications
Longer-distance thermal observation and equipment inspections. Check the native sensor resolution, lens and device compatibility to decide whether this model fits your intended working distance and target size.
