What the specs mean in practice

Resolution. The sensor is 96×96, or 9,216 thermal pixels. Super-resolution processing outputs 240×240, which makes outlines and shapes easier to read. It does not add real measurement pixels, so the camera is best on larger targets at close range.

Alarms. You can set a high or low temperature limit. The camera alerts you when a reading goes past it, which speeds up repeat inspections.

Standalone. It has its own screen, battery and 8 GB of storage, so there is no phone to pair.

What you can use it for

  • Home checks: insulation, windows, drafts and radiant floors.
  • HVAC and electrical: alarms flag abnormal temperatures on routine checks.
  • Pipes: follow hot and cold lines.

Who should look elsewhere

  • You need fine detail. A 256×192 model such as the UNI-T UTi260B shows far more.
  • You work on small electronics, where a 256×192 model is a better fit.

How it compares

  • MILESEEY TR10: a 192×192 native sensor and an 8-hour battery.
  • HTI HT-03: 120×90 with a built-in visible camera.

Tips for better results

  • Get close to the target so it covers several pixels.
  • Shiny bare metal reads cooler than it really is. Measure a patch of black electrical tape instead.
  • Glass blocks thermal imaging, so you see the glass surface and not what is behind it.
  • Set alarm limits slightly above normal operating temperature to catch problems early.

Frequently asked questions

What does super-resolution do?
It enhances the image from the 96×96 sensor to 240×240, which makes outlines and shapes easier to read. It does not add real sensor pixels.

Does it work without a phone?
Yes. It has its own screen, battery and 8 GB of storage.

What are the alarms for?
You set a high or low temperature limit, and the camera alerts you when a reading goes past it.

Is it rechargeable?
Yes. It has a rechargeable battery.

Is it good for electronics?
It can show hot components on larger boards. For small parts, choose a higher-resolution model.
